Generic
Iron Polymaltose Complex + Folic Acid + Zinc Sulfate
Indications
This pill is used to treat and prevent deficiencies in iron, folic acid, and zinc.
Pharmacology
Iron, Folic Acid, and Zinc are combined in one pill. Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex, a noble Iron preparation, is contained in this preparation. It is a stable compound of non-ionic Ferric Iron and Polymaltose. When the Iron gets into touch with the mucosal cell membrane, this complex aids in its regulated absorption. Iron (III) Hydroxide Polymaltose Complex is more stable than ordinary Iron due to its non-ionic nature. Folic acid is necessary for a fetus’s normal growth. Zinc keeps enzymes active and aids protein metabolization.
Dosage & Administration
One tablet daily. Two tablets may be required a day in severe cases or as directed by the physician.
Interaction
Ionic interaction with foodstuff components (phytates, oxalates, tannin, etc.) and concurrent administration of medicaments (tetracyclines, antacids) are unlikely to occur since Iron is complex bound.
Contraindications
This pill is not recommended for individuals who have a known hypersensitivity to any of the product’s components.
Side Effect
This pill is well accepted by most people. However, a few common adverse effects of oral Iron preparations include nausea, vomiting, constipation, and diarrhoea.
Pregnancy & Lactation
Any medication should be avoided during the first trimester of pregnancy if at all feasible. As a result, administering Iron in the first trimester necessitates conclusive proof of Iron insufficiency.
Precautions & Warnings
Dark colour of the stool, like with other Iron treatments, is possible but not clinically significant.
Therapeutic Class
Iron, Vitamin & Mineral Combined preparation
